The mathematics program at Cohen Hillel Academy provides knowledge, experiences, and understanding on a broad spectrum of major topics to enable students to be mathematically literate and sophisticated problem solvers.

As students progress through our program, they discover the beauty of the language of mathematics, and learn to develop the power of mathematics to manipulate, interpret, and analyze data in their world.

The mathematics curriculum seeks to:

• foster an excitement for and positive attitude toward the world of mathematics with the goal of encouraging students to become lifelong mathematical learners
  
• emphasize hands-on inquiry
  
• develop strong problem solving strategies
  
• encourage the "Habits of Mind" as suggested in the Massachusetts Mathematics Framework: develop communication skills, build confidence, utilize resources, make connections with related topics, integrate skills and concepts with other subjects, value and appreciate mathematics
