Governing Structure
Cohen Hillel Academy is governed by a Board of Directors which is entrusted with the responsibility of establishing the policies of the school, maintaining its financial stability, and whose members serve as ambassadors of the school in the community. For example, the board hires the Head of School and approves the school’s budget, tuition, and fundraising policies. The president is elected for a one-year term, while officers are elected for a two-year term, and directors are elected for a two or three-year term. A co-president of Hamishpacha (Cohen Hillel Academy’s family organization) and the chair of the Trustees sit on the Board as ex-officio members. The Board of Directors includes parents of students, parents of alumni, and community leaders. The nominating committee, chaired by the immediate past president, nominates members. The nominating committee convenes in February. Those who wish to be considered for nomination to the Board of Directors should speak directly to the chair of the nominating committee, Bruce Haskin, or to the President of the Board of Directors, Dr. Howard Abrams, in February. Elections are held at the Annual Meeting in June. The 2007-2008 Board of Directors
The Board of Trustees acts as an advisory body to the Board of Directors and Administration of Cohen Hillel Academy. Trustees serve as ambassadors of the school in the community. 2007-2008 Board of Trustees |
